Hello! My name is Cesar Chavez! ( Wave of hand). I was born on a  farm near Yuma ,Arizona on March 31 ,1927. I moved to California and became a migrant worker. I left school after completing the eighth grade.

 

I married Hellen Febela in 1948.  In 1965 I led the Delano grape strike because the farmers didn’t get fair wages ! I formed a union then. In1988 I had to  fast for 36 days to protest. I made nonviolent protests. I won the presidential medal of  freedom!

 

After years of hard work I died on April 23, 1993 at the age of sixty-six. People come to honor me to day. People still keep my dream alive.
