Hello, I am Betsy Ross. I was born in Philly
on New year Day, 1752. I married John
Ross. He fixed furniture and I sewed covers for it. Then I started to make flags.
My Grandson tells the story about when George Washington came to my shop and
asked me to make a flag from his drawing. I changed the stars in his
drawing from 6 points to 5 points . On
June 14, 1777 Congress made my stars and stripe flag the flag for the whole country.
I died in 1836. My shop is still here.
